What We Offer
A handyman visit from SWFL Carpenters is a working carpentry visit for the small jobs that pile up around a house: the door that stopped latching in July, the baseboard that popped off its corner, the cabinet door that sags and rubs. Call (813) 379-9922 in Tampa or (941) 212-2560 in Sarasota, read out your list, and one visit can clear most of it.

How We Work
The trick to getting full value from a handyman visit is batching. Travel and setup are the fixed cost of any trip, so a visit that fixes eight small things costs far less per fix than eight separate trips. This page explains what one visit can realistically cover, how to build your list, and which problems are really projects wearing a small-job disguise.
A single visit comfortably handles a batch of independent small repairs: adjusting and re-hanging doors, re-securing loose trim and baseboard, replacing or tightening cabinet hinges and pulls, re-caulking trim lines and wet areas, fixing squeaky stair treads, re-hanging sagging gates, easing sticky drawers and swapping out damaged casing sections. Each of these is measured in minutes to a couple of hours, not days.
What a visit cannot do is stack multiple half-day jobs. Installing a new door slab with hinge mortising and lockset boring, rebuilding a section of rotted exterior trim, or re-fitting a run of kitchen cabinets are each a day or more on their own. When your list contains one of those, it gets scheduled as its own work, and the smaller items ride along with it or take a separate visit.
Walk the house with a notepad before you call. Open and close every interior door and note which stick, sag or miss the latch. Check baseboard corners for gaps and loose sections. Open every cabinet and drawer and note rubs, sags and loose hardware. Look at caulk lines around tubs, sinks and backsplashes. Test stair treads for squeaks and railings for wobble. That walk takes twenty minutes and it typically doubles the value of the visit.
Group the list by room when you read it out. Room order lets the work flow without re-setting tools and drop cloths, which means more of the visit goes to fixing and less to moving. Mention anything that might need parts, such as specific hinge sizes or matching pulls, so the right hardware arrives with the visit instead of triggering a second trip.
Most door problems in Florida are movement problems. Humidity swells the door and the jamb, latches drift out of alignment, and hinges work loose under the cycle. The fix is usually one of three things: tightening and re-screwing hinges into solid framing, planing or sanding the binding edge and re-sealing it so it stops absorbing moisture, or adjusting the strike so the latch seats again. Each is clean, quick work when the door is otherwise sound.
Trim that has popped at a corner or pulled away from the wall usually comes down to fastening or caulk failure, sometimes aggravated by the same humidity cycling. Re-securing it properly means fastening into framing rather than drywall, re-coping or re-caulking the joint, and finishing the repair so it disappears. If the trim is loose because there is moisture in the wall behind it, that gets flagged rather than nailed over.
Sagging cabinet doors are almost always a hinge problem: screws that have loosened in particleboard, hinges that have worn, or doors that were never adjusted after the boxes settled. Modern concealed hinges adjust in three directions, and a proper adjustment makes a door sit square again in minutes. Stripped screw holes get repaired with dowel or insert methods so the new screw holds in solid material, not in enlarged holes with longer screws praying for grip.
Pulls and knobs are quick to replace but worth doing carefully, because drilling new holes in a finished door front is permanent. Stripped knobs, broken drawer slides and rollers, and drawers that jump their tracks are all single-visit repairs. A cabinet box that has swelled, delaminated or split from water damage is a different matter: that is repair-or-replace territory and gets quoted as its own work.
Some jobs look small until you open them up. A single sticking door in a house where every door sticks points at floor or framing movement, and planing the door treats the symptom. A loose section of exterior trim can be the visible tip of ledger or sheathing rot. A cabinet that will not stay adjusted can be a box that is failing. In each case the honest move is to show you what was found and price the real scope separately.
The dividing line is simple. If the fix is mechanical, independent and measured in hours, it belongs on your handyman list. If it involves structure, moisture, matching large runs of existing finish, or a day or more of work, it gets its own estimate. You will always know which side of that line your job sits on before work starts. Call (813) 379-9922 for Tampa or (941) 212-2560 for Sarasota with your list and you will get a straight read on it.
Yes. Handyman visits run across both cities and nearby communities. Call (813) 379-9922 for Tampa and (941) 212-2560 for Sarasota.
It depends on the mix, but a well-batched list of quick repairs, such as door adjustments, hardware swaps, trim re-securing and caulking, often clears in a single visit. Reading the full list out when you call gets you an honest estimate of what fits.
Usually yes. Seasonal sticking comes from humidity swelling the door. The binding edge gets planed or sanded and then sealed, which slows the moisture uptake that causes the swelling. Hinge and strike alignment get checked at the same time.
In most cases, yes. Concealed hinges adjust in three directions, and worn hinges are cheap to replace. Stripped screw holes get properly repaired so the fix holds. Only a box that is swollen or split pushes the job into repair-or-replace territory.
Yes, customer-supplied hardware, pulls, hinges and similar items are fine. Mention them when you call so the visit arrives with the right bits and anchors for your specific doors and walls.
Anything involving structure, moisture damage, large runs of trim or cabinets, or a full day or more of work. Door slab installation, rot repair and cabinet re-fitting each get their own estimate and schedule rather than squeezing into a batched visit.
